Itinerary

Rome is a city full of history, art, and culture, and two days is just enough time to get a taste of what it has to offer. Here's an ideal itinerary for your two days in Rome:

Day 1:

Start your day with a visit to the Colosseum, one of the most iconic landmarks in Rome. You can take a guided tour or explore on your own, but either way, make sure to take in the impressive architecture and learn about the history of this ancient amphitheater.

After the Colosseum, head over to the Roman Forum, which was once the center of political and social life in ancient Rome. Here, you can see the ruins of temples, government buildings, and public spaces that date back to the 7th century BC.

For lunch, head to Trastevere, a charming neighborhood on the west bank of the Tiber River. This area is known for its narrow streets, colorful buildings, and delicious food. Try some traditional Roman dishes like carbonara or cacio e pepe at one of the many trattorias in the area.

In the afternoon, visit the Vatican Museums, which house an incredible collection of art and artifacts from throughout history. The highlight of the museum is the Sistine Chapel, where you can see Michelangelo's famous ceiling fresco.

End your day with a visit to St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world and the center of the Catholic Church. Take in the stunning architecture and artwork, including Michelangelo's Pieta.

Day 2:

Start your day with a visit to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved ancient buildings in Rome. This temple was built in 27 BC and has a fascinating history. Make sure to look up at the dome, which is one of the largest unsupported domes in the world.

After the Pantheon, head to the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world. Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain, you'll return to Rome one day. Make sure to take a few photos and toss a coin in the water.

For lunch, head to Campo de' Fiori, a bustling square in the heart of Rome. Here, you'll find a daily market selling fresh produce, meats, and cheeses, as well as plenty of restaurants and cafes.

In the afternoon, visit the Spanish Steps, a beautiful staircase that leads up to the Trinita dei Monti church. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the city.

End your day with a visit to the Piazza Navona, a beautiful square that was once a stadium in ancient Rome. Here, you'll find three beautiful fountains, including Bernini's famous Fountain of the Four Rivers. Grab a gelato and enjoy the atmosphere before heading back to your hotel.
