Itinerary

Antwerp is a beautiful city with a rich history and culture. Here's an ideal itinerary for 2 days in Antwerp:

Day 1:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Antwerp Central Station, which is considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Take a moment to admire the stunning architecture and snap some photos.
  • Next, head to the Grote Markt, the city's main square. Here, you'll find the iconic Brabo Fountain and the beautiful City Hall. Take a stroll around the square and soak up the atmosphere.
  • From the Grote Markt, make your way to the Cathedral of Our Lady. This stunning Gothic cathedral is one of the most impressive in Europe, with its towering spire and beautiful stained glass windows.
  • After visiting the cathedral, take a break for lunch at one of the many cafes or restaurants in the area. Try some traditional Belgian dishes like moules-frites (mussels and fries) or stoofvlees (beef stew).
  • In the afternoon, head to the Rubenshuis, the former home and studio of the famous Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens. The museum houses many of his works, as well as works by other Flemish artists.
  • End your day with a visit to the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom), a modern museum dedicated to the city's history and culture. The building itself is a work of art, with its striking red sandstone exterior and panoramic views of the city from the rooftop.

Day 2:

  • Start your day with a visit to the Plantin-Moretus Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once a printing house and publishing company. The museum houses a vast collection of books, manuscripts, and printing equipment.
  • From there, head to the trendy neighborhood of Het Zuid, where you'll find many art galleries, boutiques, and cafes. Take a stroll down the main street, the Van Breestraat, and explore the side streets.
  • For lunch, head to the De Koninck Brewery, where you can take a tour of the brewery and sample some of their famous beers. Don't forget to try a Bolleke, the brewery's signature beer.
  • In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Contemporary Art (M HKA), which houses a collection of modern and contemporary art from Belgium and around the world.
  • End your day with a visit to the Antwerp Zoo, one of the oldest and most beautiful zoos in Europe. The zoo is home to over 5,000 animals, including elephants, giraffes, and lions.

I hope this itinerary helps you plan your trip to Antwerp!
